First you need to determine what kind of scale you need. If you ship light weight items, then a small scale will do. Small scales normally go up to 13lb and can weigh to the 0.1 oz. For medium weight items, you can get a scale that goes up to 35lb. For heavy shippers, there are 50-75lb scales. The scales with higher weight limits will cost more and usually have a accuracy to the 0.2 oz. Some of the other features that are nice to have but not always needed are accessories to hold irregular packages like tubes and large envelope holders. Also some scale allow you to pull out the control panel for easy reading either by a cord or wirelessly. If you need to interface the scale with your computer, then you will need one with a USB port.
