Weigh Accurately with the Digital Postal Scale
|
A digital postal scale is a must have for anyone serious about doing lots of shipping for your businesses. This website will show you how to buy the correct postal scale for your shipping needs.
First you need to determine what kind of scale you need. If you ship light weight items, then a small scale will do. Small scales normally go up to 13lb and can weigh to the 0.1 oz. For medium weight items, you can get a scale that goes up to 35lb. For heavy shippers, there are 50-75lb scales. The scales with higher weight limits will cost more and usually have a accuracy to the 0.2 oz. One thing to look for is that if a high weight limit scale says it can weigh to the .1 oz, it probably can only do that for the first couple pounds. Then it might switch to a .5 oz accuracy reading. A .2 oz accuracy scale that doesn't switch like that usually weighs with the same accuracy for the entire weight limit.
There are some features that differentiate the scales, but some are more necessary than others. In our opinion, you should make sure the scale you buy has these features:
Tare Function - This lets you set the scale to zero with or without any weight already on the scale. Hold Function - Holds the weight readout on the LCD after you take the package off. Many times, you can't see the digital LCD because the box is bigger than the scale. Battery and AC Power - Makes the scale portable and also able to be used without batteries. Gram and Ounce Measurements - Feature that lets you switch from Kilograms and grams to Pounds and ounces. Auto Shutoff Feature - Saves power if you forget to turn off the scale.
Some of the other features that are nice to have but not always needed are accessories to hold irregular packages like tubes and large envelope holders. Also some scale allow you to pull out the control panel for easy reading either by a cord or wirelessly. If you need to interface the scale with your computer, then you will need one with a USB port.
Now you can start looking for the scale to fit your shipping needs.
